PAINTING AND PAINTERS IN ZAMORA (1525-1580) A CASE STUDY ON THE ASSIMILATION OF THE RENAISSANCE IN THE NORTHWEST OF CASTELLANO-LEONESE AND ITS IRRADIATION
Keywords:
Painting, Renaissance, Castile and Leon, Heritage, AltarpieceSynopsis
This work contributes to the knowledge of Zamora's Renaissance painting, which until now had not been studied as a whole, and therefore lacked entity and definition beyond the workshops of the central third of the sixteenth century. We have tried to enrich this vision through the analysis of works of art scattered in collections and museums and the study of documents from the first two thirds of the 16th century. These findings are contextualized by comparing them with paintings from other territories, with the aim of clarifying the complex network of relationships existing between different pictorial centers of the Hispanic fifteenth century.
