THE LITERARY WORK OF MANUEL ALONSO ALCALDE (1919-1990)
Synopsis
Manuel Alonso Alcalde was born in Valladolid and studied at the Lourdes school, where he was a classmate of Miguel Delibes, to whom he transmitted his passion for literature. Graduated in Law from the University of Valladolid, he joined the Military Legal Corps. Together with Luis López Anglada, Arcadio Pardo and with the support of Miguel Delibes, he founded the poetry magazine Halcón, which published thirteen issues between 1945 and 1949. He was assigned to Ceuta in 1948, where he served as Municipal Judge for five years, and where he got to know different environments that served as inspiration for his works. He moved to Madrid in 1969 and there he continued his literary and journalistic activity, which he had begun years before. He died in 1990, which led to numerous tributes in his memory. He cultivated all genres: poetry, short stories, short stories, theater and children's literature. In all of them he received excellent reviews and numerous national and international awards, including the Lope de Vega for theater in 1972.
