RELIGIOUS DIMENSIONS OF SOUTHERN EUROPE (1800-1875)

Chronologically, the book's starting point can be easily placed in the War of Independence fought between the Spanish patriots and the Napoleonic army. It is precisely in this episode that Emanuele Marco Omes's contribution is framed regarding the meanings of certain ceremonies in honor of Joseph I or his brother, the emperor (such as, for example, the cult of Saint Napoleon). Later, the Liberal Triennium is specifically addressed by Gérard Dufour and Elisabel Larriba, with separate studies on the press, which reveal the usefulness of this medium in achieving a better understanding of the different positions with which the religious question was addressed at that interesting juncture (which was clearly outlined then, although with very different features from other later periods of great confrontation between liberals and absolutists or between republicans and monarchists, such as the Democratic Six Years or the Second Republic).
