LUTHERAN HERETICS IN VALLADOLID. FIRE AND FORGETTING ABOUT THE CONVENT OF BELÉN. SECOND REVISED EDITION

The story told is nothing more than a representation of what happened. It's also a simplification. Despite everything, this book attempts to be a rigorous interpretation of the history of a convent: Our Lady of Bethlehem, and what happened to part of its community in the tragic auto-da-fé of 1559. The context in which it emerged and its evolution until the final moment of its disappearance constitute a central chapter in the interpretation of this city. It is yet another attempt to recover the lost, disjointed memory of that dramatic event, in which freedom of thought and the incipient restlessness of Valladolid's Lutheranism were materially burned. Asunción Esteban Recio holds a PhD and is a Professor of Medieval History at the University of Valladolid. Her research has been structured around two main areas: Social History, focused on the study of conflict in the urban world, and Gender History, with special attention to the relationship between women and heresies.
