This work highlights the geostrategic importance of the current territory of Ukraine throughout history to understand the formation of this independent country since 1991. This is essential to understand the position of geopolitical pivot between Europe and Asia that Ukraine holds and that has made it a space of interest for many ancient populations and political entities. In this sense, we can affirm that it is of obligatory knowledge to try to understand the current situation faced by the Slavic country. The different chapters in which this volume is divided will take the reader on a journey through the history of the Ukrainian territory from antiquity to the proclamation of its independence in the early 1990s.
