Synopsis

The Second Spanish Republic (1931-1936) was a period marked by intense rural conflict, with frequent episodes of violence. At the time of studying this issue historiography has focused mainly on the southern regions of Spain, those where the 1932 Agrarian Reform was applied, while other spaces such Old Castile and Leon have been much less studied nevertheless as well in them a heightened conflictivity occurred. This book aims to improve our knowledge of what happened in the Castilian rural world, taking the province of Valladolid as an example. And, as a main source it resorts to judicial documentation of a criminal character from which numerous cases of violence and conflict occurring in the various counties of the province are reported.
