LOS OLMEDO, UNA FAMILIA DE ACTORES DEL SIGLO DE ORO: TEATRO BREVE DE ALONSO DE OLMEDO, EL MOZO

This study compiles for the first time the complete dramatic works (interludes and dances) of the playwright Alonso de Olmedo—classification and analysis—one of the most prominent actors (leading man) and dancers of the mid-17th century. Olmedo's father and son also share the same profession and first and last name, which is why Baroque biographers and modern scholars have occasionally made errors in attributing life events to each of them. Here, the biographies of the three "Alonso de Olmedo" are included to differentiate them more precisely. His father is most often mentioned as a theater director and co-founder of the actors' guild (Nuestra Señora de la Novena), while his son stands out for his roles as a graceful comedian. Also included is an exemplified sample of the daily life of Baroque actors and the poetic work of the playwright in question.
