Exposición MUVaSynopsis
On display here are examples from the Alas y Viento (Wings and Wind) collection of Masks of the World, which Nacho Rovira has compiled over several decades. Rovira has generously offered part of his magnificent collection for this exhibition, some of whose masks have been recognized by UNESCO and are regularly on display in a Permanent Exhibition in Barcelona.
This brings together the passion of an avid collector and traveler with the rigorous and informative enthusiasm of Professor Panero, who is also director of the Chair of Traditional Studies at the UVa—a university branch of the Joaquín Díaz Foundation—and principal investigator of the European Project Unveiling the Arts and Works behind the MASKS.
This is an educational project, although the profiles of many members of different teams are researchers, and above all, the number of different agents involved should be highlighted. In this sense, thanks to its extensive network of contacts and excellent relationships with associations, groups, documentary producers, photographers, and others interested in mask culture, the MASKS project has managed to involve artisans in this field, but one of its goals is also to look to the future,
by equipping students at vocational training centers and universities with various skills.
