DERMATOLOGÍA MÉDICO QUIRÚRGICA Y VENEREOLOGÍA. TERCERA EDICIÓN REVISADA Y AMPLIADA

Dermatology is the medical-surgical specialty responsible for the study and treatment of diseases of the skin and appendages (hair and nails), as well as the oral and genital mucosa. Traditionally, it has also been responsible for venereology (sexually transmitted diseases) due to the high frequency and importance of mucocutaneous manifestations of these diseases.

It is a very broad specialty, encompassing patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, and overlapping with many other specialties. Skin clinical practice is often key in the diagnosis of other pathologies.

The Manual presented here aims to review dermatology in an eminently practical manner, emphasizing the most relevant skin pathologies. To this end, the concept, diagnosis, and treatment of the various dermatoses are analyzed. As it is a highly visual specialty, numerous clinical images are included.

I believe it could be useful for the theoretical and clinical training not only of medical students, but also for reviewing the specialty by dermatology residents and other physicians, especially primary care physicians.
