The Museum of the Galician People (Museo do Pobo Galego) is delighted to host this new phase of the MASKS project, an interdisciplinary initiative promoted by the University of Valladolid through the Chair of Studies on Tradition, coordinated by Professor Pilar Panero. This European project brings together universities, educational centers, cultural institutions, artisans, and professionals from diverse fields in a broad international exploration of mask culture. Through this collaboration, the Museum joins an initiative that combines research, dissemination, and creation, fostering dialogue between traditions from multiple regions and the living presence of these festive and identity-defining practices. The exhibition we are now presenting is the culmination of this encounter in our Museum. It brings together a significant selection from the Wings and Wind collection, assembled over decades by collector Nacho Rovira. His generosity allows us to view a representative portion of this exceptional collection, comprised of masks from more than forty countries. Alongside these, several Galician pieces are included in this exhibition, some belonging to the Museo do Pobo Galego itself, allowing the visiting collection to establish a close dialogue with Galician ethnographic heritage and with the traditions of Entroido, one of the most significant festive expressions of our culture.
