Synopsis

The work we present here is a clear example: a reminder that images have been telling stories for thousands of years — everyday life, the life of a campus, and, in this case, the life and history of the Soria Campus.

And this, in the 21st century — the century of artificial intelligence — can also feel like a kind return to the origins of writing: a return, with honours, to today’s comic. To the comic of always. Centuries ago, the aleluyas — painted panels that passed on popular stories through rhymes and vignettes — were a way of keeping narratives alive, handing down oral wisdom from generation to generation.

Later, that simple (perhaps even naïve) idea was reinvented in the press, creating fictional stories with recurring characters that reflected social and political events of the moment.

Later still — and thankfully — comics became an influential medium in their own right, sitting somewhere between art and literature: first aimed at children and young people, and later embraced by adult readers as well.

Eventually, academia also recognised comics as a valid communication channel: precise, contemporary, and remarkably effective.

I will add just a few more words: read this comic about the history of the Soria Campus — made with rigour and affection, with honesty and intelligence. Drawn by a young artist from Soria, Adrián Listo, it also serves to present, also in English, what we do, how we do it, and why we do it. It is not only a calling card, but also a declaration of intent — one that helps us grow, add to what we are, and keep looking ahead.
