Anthology of 21st-century Hispanic short-stories in four languages

This anthology aims to provide a representative sample of the micro-story in the 21st century. It offers a selection of one hundred and eighty micro-stories by thirty-six writers and has been compiled with an intercultural and multilingual approach, incorporating texts in Spanish, Catalan, Basque and Galician, featuring authors of micro-fiction who are representative of each of these languages.
The selected micro-stories come from a variety of bibliographic sources, all published in this century, which demonstrate the different ways in which micro-fiction is disseminated. These range from short story collections containing short and ultra-short narratives, to books dedicated specifically to micro-stories, specialist blogs, and even digital and multimedia books (image, voice and video).
In short, this anthology forms a mosaic of the narrative mechanisms of this literary form (play on the title, the surprise ending or the use of ellipsis), the recurring strategies that make a short narrative work (the fantastic and the unusual, intertextuality, or distortions of time and memory), and the most frequent thematic categories (the passage of time, broken, elliptical or metamorphosed identities, (dis)loves, today’s social concerns, monsters, ghosts or sirens).
