SCIENCE, IMAGINATION AND DREAMING IN GASTON BACHELARD
Synopsis
The present work tries to fill a gap, the void of the Spanish philosophical community before one of the most important French philosophers of the 20th century: Gaston Bachelard (1884-1962). Forgetting can be ignorance, ignorance, or on the contrary it can be conscious and intentional. First of all, we will show some of the most significant and outstanding contributions of Bachelard that we consider have not lost their validity and can serve to understand some contemporary phenomena. We are referring not only to issues of philosophy of science such as the status of scientific knowledge, the relationship between theory and experience, technical artifacts, the relationship between philosophy of science and history of science or science as a social institution, but also to the reflection on the image, imagination and the imaginary, and the consideration of daydreaming as the creative state par excellence. Regarding the second, an intentional forgetfulness, we can say little. Ultimately, each person decides when it comes to clearly exposing their sources or indicating the reference texts used.
