ROADS AND ROUTES. TRADE, IDEAS AND ART

The growth of culture, the evolution of the arts and, in short, the development and transformation of societies could not be explained without the contacts, the relations between different spheres, in short, without the presence of communications. Roads, river channels, roads, trade routes, both maritime and terrestrial, or other approaches, since they do not always have to be defined by materialities with traces in the landscape, functioned and function as true engines of cultural expansion and syncretism in all its manifestations. They were and continue to be, saving chronological distances, vertebral axes of progress of what we could define as “the foundations of global openness” by allowing the contraposition of models and the dissolution of some in others, until forming new frameworks for history.
